Urban Climate Governance, a Zero Carbon, Sustainable and Smart City

Introduction:

The world’s population is rapidly changing and moving to urban areas. According to the UN, by 2050, two-thirds of the global population is projected to live in cities. Cities are significant contributors to environmental degradation, including air pollution, resource consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions. Cities are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, such as rising temperatures, sea-level rise, and extreme weather events. Urban development paradigms must adapt to climate resilience and mitigation strategies, including sustainable transportation, resilient infrastructure, and green building practices.

The need for a new urban development paradigm that prioritizes the integration of cities, sustainability, and innovation is essential to address the complex challenges and opportunities of our rapidly urbanizing world.

This five-day course is designed to provide senior managers with a comprehensive overview of urban climate governance and the key principles and practices of zero carbon, sustainable, and smart cities. Participants will learn about the latest trends and developments in these areas, as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
